My name is Elizabeth Skinner.  I graduated with a BA in Studio Art and Minor in Apparel Design from Appalachian State University in 2013.  I guess you could say that I'm more of a fiber artist than anything, but I prefer not to limit myself to solely fibers.  I dabble in anything I can get my hands on.

I've been messing around in the arts since I was really small.  I was always colouring or drawing, crafting, or begging my Granny to teach me how to sew.  She refused to teach me a thing until I turned 10.  So naturally, I've been sewing ever since.  I found myself designing my own outifts and costumes [along with the patterns that go with it].  I love learning new techniques and skills, so I ended up teaching myself how to crochet.  That lead to the creation of my very first Little Grimling Monsters.  I created dozens of those little crochet creatures. They ended up being way more popular than I had anticipated. I started being a little vendor at The Handmade Market in Boone every year to sell them.  After a while I started experimenting with making my monsters into plush using fabric rather than yarn.  I'm still playing with shapes and forms that I can create simply by adding a stitch here or there.  Since then, I've mixed in several media forms to create a more advanced sort of Grimling Monster than the little crochet ones from the beginning.

My Grimling Monsters are my main focus and love, but I still sew and love to create costumes and other things.
